WEEK #1

Post #220 (1-0) 12, Rockland 1 - The Wareham American Legion Post #220 Baseball Club started the 2010 season with an opening day win on the road at Rockland Stadium. Ben Church (Eastern Connecticut) earned the win, allowing only one run on 3 hits and finished w/ 4K’s over four innings of work. Ryan Delgado (Wentworth) went 4-for-4 w/ 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Anthony Angelo (Tabor) went 2-for-4 w/ 2 runs scored and Sean Conway (WHS) collected his first American Legion hit w/ a double to go along w/ 3 runs scored. Also collecting their first American Legion hit was Anthony Picciandra (UCT), who went 2-for-3 w/ 1 RBI on the night.

Norwell 9, Post #220 3 (1-1) - Playing in back to back nights, Post #220 could only produce 3 runs, while Norwell caused havoc on the base paths throughout the game. Michael Sullivan (WHS) allowed 5 earned runs and collected 5K's in four innings of work. Offensively, Sullivan went 3-for-3 w/ 1 run scored. Ian Searles (WHS) collected his first American Legion hit in his only at bat of the night.

Bridgewater 7, Post #220 3 (1-2) - In the home opener at Spillane Field in Wareham, Post #220 found themselves down a run in the top of the first inning, but took the lead w/ two of their own in the bottom half. Unfortunately, that was the first and last lead of the night, falling to a very good Bridewater team. Ryan Delgado (Wentworth) and Ben Church (Eastern Connecticut) each collected two hits on the night w/ Delgado scoring a run. Nick Gray (ORR) and Davarn Nova (Coyle Cassidy) each collected their first American Legion hit w/ Nova producing an RBI on the night.

WEEK #2

Post #220 9 (2-2), Whitman 5 - Post #220 evened up their record with a win on the road in Whitman. Patrick Murphy (WHS) went 4-for-4 w/ 2 RBI.  Murphy also pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits. Nick Gray (ORR) hit a solo HR to lead off the top of the sixth inning, putting Post #220 up by three runs at the time. Shea Doonan (Tabor) added a triple w/ one run scored.

Kingston 3, Post #220 1 (2-3) - In an excellent pitching match-up, Post #220 came up short. Nick Filloramo (ORR) pitched well in defeat, while collecting seven strikeouts along the way. Evan Bissonnette (ORR) went 1-for-3, producing the only run of the night.

Sandwich 4, Post #220 1 (2-4) - A second night of minimal offense led to a tough loss to Sandwich at Spillane Field in Wareham. Ryan Delgado (Wentworth) went 2-for-2 and Patrick Murphy (WHS) had the only RBI for Post #220 in the bottom of the first inning. Michael Sullivan (WHS) allowed only three earned runs and collected four strikeouts along the way.   

Post #220 6 (2-4-1), Plymouth 6 TIE - The offense came alive against Plymouth at Seiver Field. Eight out of the nine batters recorded a hit, while Michael Sullivan (WHS) and Ben Church (Eastern Connecticut) each blasted their first HR of the year. Sullivan, Nick Gray (ORR), Nick Filloramo (ORR), Ryan Delgado (Wentworth) and Sean Conway (WHS) all collected two hits apiece on the night. Church went 3-for-4 w/ 2 RBI and one run scored.

WEEK #3

Post #220 10 (3-4-1), Norwell 1 - With continued offense (14 hits) carrying over from the last game, Post #220 took down 1st place Norwell behind a strong pitching perfomance from Nick Filloramo (ORR). Filloramo pitched a complete game allowing one unearned run and striking out four. Michael Sullivan (WHS) led the attack going 3-for-4 w/ 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Filloramo, Ben Church (Eastern Connecticut), Sean Conway (WHS), and Nick Gray (ORR) all had multiple hit games. Ryan Delgado (Wentworth) went 1-for-3 w/ 2 RBI and threw out two baserunners on the night.

Post #220 12 (4-4-1), Brockton 8 - The Post #220 bats remained hot as they produced 13 hits enroute to a 12-8 victory versus Brockton at Spillane Field in Wareham. Ryan Delgado (Wentworth) enjoyed a 3-for-3, 5 RBI night that included a fifth inning grand slam for his first HR of the season. Nick Filloramo (ORR) scored three times, while Patrick Murphy (WHS) and Cody Berger (WHS) collected two hits apiece to go along w/ an RBI. Sean Conway (WHS) went 3-for-4 w/ a run scored, and Michael Sullivan (WHS) pitched 4 plus innings, allowing only 4 earned runs. 

Post #220 7 (5-4-1), Middleboro 4 - Ian Searles (WHS) pitched very well to lead Post #220 to their thrid victory in a row. He settled in nicely and collected 6 strikeouts, allowing only 6 hits, enroute to a complete game victory. Ryan Delgado (Wentworth) went 3-for-4, w/ a triple and 2 runs scored, while Hunter Horton (MA Maritime) and Billy Peterson (WHS) each collected a hit. Patrick Murphy (WHS) had two hits on the night to include a triple in the third inning and Sean Conway (WHS) scored twice while creating havoc on the base paths. 

Pembroke 5, Post #220 3 (5-5-1) - To begin the second half of the zone 10 schedule, Pembroke pitching silenced Post #220 bats, holding them to just eights (Post #220 had produced double digit hits in the last four games). After taking a 3-run lead after two, Post #220 could not push anyone across for the remainder of the game. Anthony Angelo (Tabor) and Cody Berger (WHS) collected two hits apiece w/ each of them scoring a run. The loss puts Post #220 into 9th place. The top eight teams make the zone 10 playoffs.

WEEK #4

Duxbury 17, Post #220 5 (5-6-1) - Post #220 dropped the second in a row to the big bats in the Duxbury line-up.  Offensively, Michael Sullivan (WHS) went 1-for-3 w/ 2 runs scored. Shea Doonan (Tabor) and Anthony Picciandra (UCT) each added a double and one run scored. Evan Bissonnette (ORR) connected on a triple in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Hingham 7, Post #220 5 (5-7-1) - After trailing 7-1 through five innings of play, Post #220's comeback fell short with the game tying run at the plate. Hunter Horton (MA Maritime) went 2-for-2 w/ a run scored and Michael Sullivan (WHS) added two hits of his own on the night. Solid defense by Hingham proved to seal the game, as Post #220 dropped their third in a row.

Post #220 6 (6-7-1), Barnstable 2 - In another strong pitching performance turned in by Ian Searles (WHS), Post #220 slammed their way out of their three game losing streak. Searles pitched a masterful six innings of work, allowing only two runs and Cody Berger (WHS) closed it out in the seventh. In a game of unfortunate occurrences, Post #220 jumped out 1-0 lead until Barstable pushed across a run to tie the game at one in the bottom of the fifth. After a leadoff walk in the bottom of the sixth, Barsntable was able to take the lead 2-1. To begin the top of the seventh, Berger collected his first hit of the game and Nick Gray (ORR) drew a walk, setting up a sacrifice situation for Sean Conway (WHS). With two strikes, Conway was able to lay the bunt down perfectly by the pitcher for a hit, creating a bases loaded situation. After a short pop-up to right field for the first out of the inning, Ryan Delgado (Wentworth) connected on his second grand slam of the season, putting Post #220 up for good. Nick Filloramo (ORR) went 2-for-4 on the night. Good defense, good pitching and timely hitting proved to seal the game, as Post #220 remains in the middle of the pack in a difficult Zone 10 level of play.

Post #220 14 (7-7-1), Plymouth 4 - For the second time this season, Post #220 made-up for an earlier loss against their opponent. This time, the game ended early after scoring eleven runs in the bottom of the sixth. Nick Filloramo (ORR) gave his team a chance by striking out seven, while allowing only two earned runs in four innings of work. Cody Berger (WHS) finished it off by collecting five strikeouts in only two complete innings that include srtiking out the side in the top half of the sixth. Offensively, Berger scored three runs and Sean Conway (WHS) hustled his way to a 3-for-4 night w/ two runs scored. Anthony Picciandra (UCT) collected two hits and 2 RBI, while Billy Peterson (WHS) connected on a run scoring triple. Nick Cristaldi (ORR) collected his first American Legion hit and RBI in the game. Also, Hunter Horton (MA Maritime) went 1-for-1 w/ an RBI and a run scored .

WEEK #5

Post #220 8 (8-7-1), Dennis 4 - Michael Sullivan (WHS) pitched well enough to lead Post #220 to their second three game winning streak of the season. Sullivan pitched a tough 5 1/3 innings, only allowing four runs to come across. Ian Searles (WHS) came in relief for the final two outs of the sixth inning and got out of a bases loaded jam, setting up Cody Berger (WHS) to finish the game with a 1-2-3 bottom half of the seventh inning. Offensively Post #220 was led by Nick Filloramo (ORR), as he knocked out his first HR of the season, and went 3-for-4 w/ 3 runs scored to go along w/ 3 RBI. Filloramo's 2-run shot put Post #220 up 5-2 in the top of the third. Evan Bissonnette (ORR) went 1-for-2 w/ an RBI and Patrick Murphy (WHS) returned to line-up w/ a double and one run scored.

Hanover 12, Post #220 8, 10innings (8-8-1) -  Post #220 held a 7-2 lead after five innings of play, only to see Hanover score three runs in the sixth inning and two runs in the seventh inning to tie the game, sending this hard fought match-up into extra innings.  Hanover pushed across a run in the ninth inning, but Post #220 responed w/ a run of their own after a leadoff double off the left field wall by Hunter Horton (MA Maritime) and a RBI single from Nick Filloramo (ORR). In the end, Hanover was able to score four runs in the top of the tenth inning and walk away with a victory. Horton had an outstanding day at the plate going 4-for-4 w/ 2 runs scored. Filloramo, Sean Conway (WHS), Cody Berger (WHS), Evan Bissonnette (ORR) and Patrick Murphy (WHS) all had multiple hit games.

Post #220 6 (9-8-1), Hawkeye 3 - In the first game of a home and home series versus Hawkeye Athletic Club, Post #220 rode the arm of a rising Junior Ian Searles (WHS). Searles increased his record to 3-1 on the season, by pitching a complete game; allowing only 7 hits and collecting four strikeouts, in a much needed victory.  Sean Conway (WHS) and Davarn Nova (Coyle Cassidy) each had two hits on the night, w/ Nova knocking in a run. Billy Peterson (WHS) was 1-for-1 and Cody Berger (WHS) scored two runs.

Post #220 9 (10-8-1), Hawkeye 0 - In a tight 1-0 game after four innings of play, Post #220 created some offense, scoring eight runs in the final three frames. Nick Filloramo (ORR) was 3-for-5 w/ 2 RBI and Evan Bissonnette (ORR) went 1-for-3 w/ a run scored. Ryan Delgado (Wentworth) collected two hits and also scored a run. Amazingly, Michael Sullivan (WHS) pitched a complete game shutout, by throwing only 54 total pitches. Sullivan collected 5K's and only allowed four hits, that finished off the second game in two days against Hawkeye.

Kingston 5, Post #220 4 (10-9-1)Cody Berger (WHS) pitched well enough for a win, but unfortunately, the baseball spirits were not on Post #220's side as Kingston scored the winning run in the home half of the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly. Berger pitched six plus innings while collecting 7K's along the way. Offensively, Nick Filloramo (ORR) was 2-for-3 w/ a run scored and Billy Peterson (WHS) went 2-for-2 w/ 2 RBI. Also, Evan Bissonnette (ORR) went 2-for-3 w/ two singles and Hunter Horton (MA Maritime) scored two runs. Post #220 finishes the 2010 season 10-9-1.
