WEEK #1 -

Post #220, 11 vs. Marshfield, 6 (1-0); Post #220 starts the season off w/ a win at Spillane Field. Sam Bacchiocchi (Tabor) tossed six innings and allowed only two earned runs, while Michael Kennefick (Old Rochester) made his American Legion Baseball debut in a relief appearance to close out the game. The offense was led by Evan Sylvia (Old Colony), who went 2-for-2 w/ an RBI and a run scored. Bacchiocchi and Wiley Knight (Tabor) added two hits apiece, while Cy Bariteau (Wareham) added a key two RBI base hit. Zachary Moretti (Wareham), Jarrod Murphy (Wareham) and Cooper Thornell (Upper Cape) all collected their first American Legion Baseball hit.

Post #220, 5 vs. Kingston, 4 (2-0); Zachary Moretti (Wareham) pitched two strong innings in relief to help with a comeback win. Tom Cummings (Upper Cape) battled for five tough innings and allowed only three earned runs to keep the game within reach. Bryant Salkind (Old Rochester) collected his first Senior Legion Baseball hit, going 2-for-4, while Sam Bacchiocchi (Tabor) added a base hit. John Breault (Old Rochester) reached on an error and came around to score in the third inning; Post #220 would go on to score a run in the fourth and one run in the sixth. Heading into the seventh, trailing by one run; Michael Kennefick (Old Rochester) led off the inning w/ a walk and Jarrod Murphy (Wareham) would eventually reach base to provide some excellent base running, going from first to third. Clutch RBI base hits by Austin Salkind (Old Rochester) and Wiley Knight (Tabor) would prevail, as Moretti pitched out of a jam to close out the game in the seventh.

WEEK #2 -

Post #220, 4 vs. Kingston, 0 (3-0); Sam Bacchiocchi (Tabor) collected eight strikeouts and pitched w/ confidence all night long. In a complete game effort, Bacchiocchi allowed only two hits and one walk. Wiley Knight (Tabor) went 3-for-3 w/ a double and two RBI’s. Cooper Thornell (Upper Cape) opened up the scoring w/ a leadoff triple and would cross the plate on a base hit by Bacchiocchi. To add some insurance in the fifth inning; Jarrod Murphy (Wareham) scored on an RBI double from Austin Salkind (Old Rochester).

Rockland, 8 vs. Post #220, 4 (3-1); Post #220 was handed their first loss of the season as Brendon Deverix (Old Rochester) started on the hill w/ three strong innings and then ran into a little trouble in fourth inning. Deverix would eventually hand the ball over to Cam Coelho (Tabor) for two solid innings of relief and Daniel Renwick (Old Rochester), who would go on to pitch a scoreless top of the seventh inning. John Breault (Old Rochester) collected his first American Legion Baseball hit and went 3-for-4 w/ a run scored, while Wiley Knight (Tabor) and Jarrod Murphy (Wareham) collected two hits each.

Post #220, 19 vs. Orleans, 7 (4-1); The bats came alive in Orleans, as Post #220 totaled a season high of seventeen base hits. Austin Salkind (Old Rochester) enjoyed a 5-for-6 evening, while collecting two doubles and four RBI's. Bryant Salkind (Old Rochester) started the hitting frenzy w/ a bases clearing double in the third inning, while Kyle Brezinski (Old Rochester) and Cam Coelho (Tabor) collected their first American Legion base hit. Sam Bacchiocchi (Tabor) went 2-for-4 w/ two runs scored, while Cy Bariteau (Wareham), Marcus Ferdinand (Upper Cape), Evan Sylvia (Old Colony), and Cooper Thornell (Upper Cape) all contributed w/ base hits. Wiley Knight (Tabor) walked four times and scored twice, while Zachary Moretti (Wareham) pitched into the fifth inning. Daniel Renwick (Old Rochester) came in to throw an inning plus of scoreless relief and Bryant Salkind would eventually retire the last two batters of the game.

Barnstable, 7 vs. Post #220, 0 (4-2); Post #220 was shut out by Barnstable pitching once again. In a weird resemblance of last year’s playoffs; Tom Cummings (Upper Cape) kept the game within reach, but the offense was only able to muster two hits. Cy Bariteau (Wareham) broke up a no-hit bid in the fifth inning and Bryant Salkind (Old Rochester) went 1-for-3 on the night.

WEEK #3 -

Post #220, 10 vs. Rockland, 0 (5-2); Post #220 gets in the win column again, as Sam Bacchiocchi (Tabor) hurled five shutout innings. Bacchiocchi allowed only three hits and struck out six batters on the night. Wiley Knight (Tabor) came in for some late relief and retired each batter that he would face. Bryant Salkind (Old Rochester) went 2-for-2 w/ a double and two walks, while John Breault (Old Rochester) and Cooper Thornell (Upper Cape) also secured two hits for themselves. Daniel Renwick (Old Rochester) collected his first American Legion Baseball hit and Austin Salkind (Old Rochester) connected on a late RBI double, that helped put the game away.

Post #220, 12 vs. Orleans, 2 (6-2); Cam Coelho (Tabor) had five strikeouts and was in complete control on the hill. Coelho allowed only three hits and two earned runs on the night. Zachary Moretti (Wareham) retired the only two batters that he would face in relief. Offensively, Bryant Salkind (Old Rochester) went 3-for-4 w/ two runs scored, two RBI's and a stolen base, while Marcus Ferdinand (Upper Cape) finished 2-for-2 w/ two runs scored and a stolen base of his own. Cooper Thornell (Upper Cape) and Wiley Knight (Tabor) had RBI base hits in the third inning. John Breault (Old Rochester) had an RBI base hit in the sixth inning and Kyle Brezinski (Old Rochester) smashed a double that produced two RBI's in the same inning.

Post #220, 5 vs. Sandwich, 4 (7-2); After back to back base hits by Cooper Thornell (Upper Cape) and Sam Bacchiocchi (Tabor) led off the bottom of the first inning, both runners would advance on an error. An eventual passed ball made the score 1-0 and a RBI base hit by Wiley Knight (Tabor), put Post #220 up by two. Tom Cummings (Upper Cape) put together six-plus strong innings on the mound, but after Sandwich took the lead in the top of the sixth inning, Bacchiocchi would tie it up w/ a big two out RBI base hit. In the top of the seventh, Sandwich would go up by a score of 4-3 and then in the home half of the inning, back to back base hits from Knight and Bryant Salkind (Old Rochester) put runners on the corners. After a Salkind steal, Kyle Brezinski (Old Rochester) was intentionally walked to load the bases. Cy Bariteau (Wareham) walked; which pushed across the tying run and then w/ Mike Kennefick (Old Rochester) at the plate, a passed ball by the catcher allowed the winning run to score. Thornell finished 3-for-4 at the top of the lineup.

Whitman, 4 vs. Post #220, 2 (7-3); Zachary Moretti (Wareham) pitched well to keep Post #220 in the game, but the offense couldn't make-up for a couple of defensive mistakes. Daniel Renwick (Old Rochester) had two hits w/ one run scored and Marcus Ferdinand went 1-for-1 w/ one run scored. Post #220, 3 vs. Plymouth, 2 (11-6); Tom Cummings (Upper Cape) followed up his last performance on the hill, w/ another gem. Cummings went six plus innings to earn the win. With the tying run on third, Sam Bacchiocchi (Tabor) would strikeout the only batter he would face for the save. John Breault's (Old Rochester) triple added a late insurance run, as Breault, Wiley Knight (Tabor) and Austin Salkind (Old Rochester) collected three big hits apiece on the night. Cooper Thornell (Upper Cape) added two base hits, while Bryant Salkind and Evan Sylvia (Old Colony) belted RBI doubles.

Hawkeye, 11 vs. Post #220, 3 (12-7); The three game winning streak came to a halt after the opponents bats were hot. Bryant Salkind (Old Rochester) went 2-for-3 w/ an RBI and Wiley Knight (Tabor) added an RBI double in the third inning. Cy Bariteau (Wareham), Evan Sylvia (Old Colony) and Cooper Thornell (Upper Cape) each collected a base hit.

Hawkeye, 9 vs. Post #220, 1 (12-8); After jumping out to an early six run lead, Hawkeye cruised to a win in the home and home series. The bright spot of the night was Marcus Ferdinand’s (Upper Cape) performance on the hill. Ferdinand allowed only three hits in three shutout innings of relief. 7/19 - Barnstable, 9 vs. Post #220, 5 (14-10); Eliminated from the District 10 playoffs - Facing elimination, Post #220 went up by three runs in the first inning and knocked Barnstable’s starting pitcher out of the game. Yet, Barnstable chipped away at the lead and would eventually tie the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. After trading runs in the sixth, Post #220 would strand the go ahead run in the top of the seventh. Then in the home half of the seventh, with one out and the bases loaded, Barnstable had their best hitter at the plate. With both the infield and outfield in, he delivered the game winning blast that sailed over the center fielder's head; which would eventually turn into a grand-slam that ended Post #220's season.
